Message Regarding Security Drills

Tuesday, September 11, 2018

As you know, the safety of our students and staff is the Liverpool Central School District’s number one priority. As part of our Emergency Management Plan, it is important that our students and staff practice a number of security drills throughout the school year.

In the near future, all LCSD school buildings will begin holding these drills to help familiarize students with our evacuation and emergency procedures. A total of eight evacuation drills and four lockdown drills will be held this year, with eight of those drills occurring before December 1. The dates and times of these drills will not be announced.

At least one early dismissal drill will be held no more than 15 minutes before normal dismissal time. Parents and guardians will be notified by your building principal when this drill happens so you are aware that students will arrive home a bit early that day.

These security drills may be concerning to students, especially the newest members of the Liverpool Central School District community. We ask that you please take a moment to speak with your children about the importance of these drills to help ease any concerns they may have regarding this issue. We will do the same after the completion of each drill.

In the event of an actual emergency, the district will contact parents via the SchoolMessenger notification system. To ensure that you are notified in these instances, please make sure that your contact information is up-to-date.

If you think you may need to update this information, please contact your child’s school building as soon as possible. If you would like to receive text messages from the district, please text the word “Subscribe” (using the cell phone number you have on file) to the number 67587.

Thank you for your continued support of the Liverpool Central School District.

Dr. Mark F. Potter
Superintendent of Schools
