The ability to create an efficient and high-scoring robot has earned the Liverpool High School Arctic Warriors VEX Robotics Team a chance to compete during the upcoming VEX Worlds 2017.
The team – featuring senior Ayush Goel, junior Anna Leung, senior Alexandra Taskovski, junior Julie Nguyen, sophomore Stephen Taskovski, senior Christian Cass, junior Jack Arnold, junior Kenny Zheng, senior Andy Zheng, freshman Sham Esmael and senior Sai Seethala – earned the Amaze Award and the highly coveted Design Award for Excellence during the Northern New York State VEX Championships on February 18 at the SRC Arena.
The Amaze Award is presented to a team that has built an amazing, high-scoring robot that clearly demonstrates overall quality and is designed to fulfill the competition’s assigned task, while the Design Award is presented to a team that demonstrates the ability to implement the most effective and efficient robot design process with minimal adult assistance.
By winning these awards, the team qualified for the world championships, which will be held April 19 to 22 in Louisville, Kentucky. The LHS VEX Robotics Team also received a high quality banner for display, two very nice trophies, and each student received a gold medal.
