LHS Showcases World Languages and Cultures with Carpe Café Olé
Wednesday, March 14, 2018
Bonjour. Kumusta. Chào. Salve. Guten Tag. ¡Hola!
Those were just a few of the greetings recently heard at Liverpool High School during the annual Carpe Café Olé. The LHS Foreign Languages Department hosted the event, which celebrates world languages and cultures.
Carpe Café Olé featured singing, dancing, acting, musical performances, crafts and cultural exhibits. Those in attendance also sampled food from 20 different countries and cultures.
“This collaboration between students and faculty members celebrates not only the cultures taught at LHS, but allows students to share their families’ cultures and traditions with the whole community,” said LHS French teacher Anna Burns. “Especially in today’s world, it is paramount that students learn acceptance and tolerance of other cultures to help us shape better leaders and a better world tomorrow.”
