LCSD Selects Sites for Expanded Pre-K Program
Monday, December 18, 2017
The Liverpool Central School District Board of Education recently selected three sites for the Expanded Pre-K program that will begin in January 2018:
- County North Children’s Center
- Northminster Early Childhood Center
- PEACE, Inc.
The district is in the process of finalizing agreements with each site, which will include determining session times for students. Parents of children selected for the Expanded Pre-K program will be notified of these times when their child has been placed in the program.
In late October the district was awarded a New York State Pre-Kindergarten grant that will allow it to establish an Expanded Pre-K Program for LCSD four-year-olds. Students must attend the program five days a week for two-and-a-half hours per day.
Instruction will be consistent with the NYS Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core, which focuses on a child’s social/emotional, cognitive and physical development. Transportation to and from the program will be the responsibility of parents/ guardians.
To be eligible, a child must:
- Be four years old on or before December 1, 2017 (born in the year 2013)
- Reside in the Liverpool Central School District
Those submitting a notice between now and March 1 will be added to a waiting list and parents will be notified as spaces become available.
The district hopes to extend the Expanded Pre-K program and increase the number of spaces available during the 2018-2019 school year.
