LCSD Introduces School-Based Mental Health Program

Wednesday, December 20, 2017

The Liverpool Central School District is committed to addressing the mental health needs of its students.

In collaboration with the Children and Family Services Division of School Based Initiatives, the district has partnered with Liberty Resources to open a school-based mental health clinic at the Liverpool High School Annex.

The district partnered with Liberty Resources to assist Liverpool families who experience transportation or scheduling issues that make it difficult to access mental health services. The school-based clinic allows Liverpool students and their families to receive these services during school hours.

The clinic at the LHS Annex features a licensed mental health professional that can provide services beyond what a school district is able to offer. This includes mental health assessments, individual, family & group therapy, psychiatric assessment, medication evaluations, medication management, and crisis services. The clinic staff also can participate in team meetings with teachers and staff with the permission of the family. The goal is to assist students and families with their mental health needs while also contributing to positive school outcomes for students.

The school-based mental health clinic is available to students attending the LHS Annex and Morgan Road Elementary. The services also are available to families from other LCSD schools as long as the families can provide transportation to the Annex during the school day.

Services are billed to healthcare insurance providers. Medicaid and many other insurances are accepted by the clinic. Fees vary based on the service provided.

Referrals are currently being accepted and may be submitted by a building’s school intervention team. Parents also may refer a student by contacting Kimberly Martin, Liberty Resources’ school-based mental health referral coordinator, at 315-472-4471 ext. 1205.
